Di Xi's Bridal Shower

On July 23rd, I threw a bridal shower for Tung's aunt, who will get married this September. Here's the gift table with the party favors and some note cards for guests to write down some advice for the bride.

Setting up the food table . . .

Di Xi (front) goofs off with one of her guests.

The day starts off with some games, such as "Pass the Bouquet."

Everyone gathers around the table to snack on strawberries and play written games.

Phew, competing for gift cards by playing games is hard work. Time for a break! Here's a toast with Chandon champagne and guava cake.

Di Xi slices the cake as practice for the big day.

Gift time! Posing with one of her bridesmaids.

What party would be complete without ending with some Dance Central? The bride-to-be boogies:

And finally, the group shot:

4th of July 2011

My man's grillin' up some mean Top Dogs lemon-chicken sausages for the 4th. Looks like he's picked up a few things from the last time Gene-O was here.

Mmm, nothing like good eatin's with the family in your very own house around the holidays.

Cake Tasting with Di Xi

Tung and I recently went cake-tasting with his aunt and her fiancee at Margaret's French Bakery. We sample a variety of cakes, from whites to dark chocolates. This is the fun part of wedding planning!

We thought we'd get in some early practice sessions before our wedding.

If it were up to Tung, all four layers of the cake would be mocha.

WTF Week

A series of unfortunate events is when your home security gets compromised and you end up having to do this again:

Dammit, and I thought our days of paintbrush and paint flecks all over a decidedly-disposable outfit were long over. . .

Apparently, there is more work to be done to the place after a period of idleness, including taking out those ugly spiky trees in the front that obstruct vision.

And just when we think things couldn't get worse, this happens, barely missing Tung's car (and Tung, as he was on his way out of the house) by that much:

Luckily, we have such considerate neighbors, who recognized the strange curse that has gone on in our lives lately, to do this for us:

And as to the security issues, I'm doing this:
