Letters to Luc: Full of Firsts (Month 8)

Dear Luc,

Your 8th month is so full of firsts. You get better at sitting up by yourself and could transition from crawling to sitting.

Your cut your first tooth! The lower central incisor sprouted at the beginning of the month, followed by the upper incisor. By the end of the month, you went from zero to three teeth.

Mommy still makes baby food for you since you refuse the pouches of organic, store-bought food. You start enjoying chunks, textures, and combined flavors.

You start pulling up to stand by yourself, but you couldn't stand independently yet.

On weekends, we take a family walk to your future elementary school, and you got your first ride in the baby swing this month. You seem to really like it!

You sat in a high chair for the first time in restaurants, so we could leave your bulky car seat and stroller when we go out to eat.

You experienced your first Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, but it wasn't very monumental for you since Mommy didn't let you have any yummy but sugary moon cakes or take you to see the lantern festivals.

The Fall Equinox has arrived, and you sport your cold-climate clothes again.

But on heat-wave days, you still like the summer country boy look.

You start to go on play dates, like with Auggie at Mommy's Aikido summer party.

And with Ben at his home where the backyard is a lake housing paddle-boarders and boaters for you to marvel at. Ben has lots of toys and shared them with you. You had a good time playing, and Mommy and Daddy even got to enjoy a delicious, homemade lunch by Ben's Mommy and Daddy.

This month, we celebrate your In & Out Day; you spent 37 weeks + 4 days in Mommy's tummy, and you made it to 37 weeks + 4 days on the outside.

To commemorate, we had In-N-Out burgers (well, Mommy and Daddy ate those, while you watched and had a bowl of purees). Then we hung out at Santana Row and Valley Fair Mall.

We topped it off with a dinner at Red Lobster where you got your first Kids' Activity Placemat. Mommy is teaching you how to write your name in Vietnamese, but you are thrilled just to drop the crayons and placemat on the floor.

Sometimes life is hard, I know. Your gums hurt and you don't want to sleep and you couldn't express what you want.

But mostly, you're a happy little guy.

Keep growing, my tiny and mighty champion!
