Letters to Luc: Celebration of Love (Month 6)

Dear Luc,

You are half a year old! Time flies by so fast in the company of my happy baby, so quick to smile and gift us with the peals of your laughter.

The good days outnumber the bad when I think about how lucky I am to have you.

Do you think look like Mommy when she was about as old as you?

This month, you helped Grandpa celebrate his birthday. Notice the resemblance in the head and hair.

You continue to enjoy being read to.

You are working on sitting by yourself, but you've gotta work on your posture to straighten your back.

You are starting to babble, "Mamamama" when you want me to come by.

You attended your first ever wedding when Daddy's coworker got married. You loved all the sights and people, staring at them walking up and down the aisle and into the reception hall as if it were a parade put on just for your entertainment. You even refused your evening bottle because you wanted to watch the first dance. I can't count how many weddings I've been to already, but this one feels so special to me, Luc, because I got to experience it fresh through your eyes. Everything is new; love is beautiful, wondrous, and deserves much celebration.

I so look forward to our weekends together when I don't have to rush out the door to work, our mornings spent basking in summer sunshine, you watching Saturday morning cartoons with Daddy while Mommy sleeps in, you taking your mid-morning nap in the safety of Daddy's arms.

You're a lot more aware of Big Brother Odin and are starting to pet him, but Mommy has to remind you to be gentle and not pull his fur.

We're all about the exotic fruits, and you have a taste of your first purple dragon fruit, straight from your grandma's backyard. Daddy is trying to grow many plants for you.

You seem to pick up a new trick or skill rapidly these days. You're still my small-fry at a mere 14 pounds, but you're growing and developing fast. Mommy can't wait to see what surprises you have in store for her during your seventh month, my little sheep baby.
